For more than 45 years, Nigeria Machine Tools has been part of the development of technical and industrial capability in Nigeria.
In 1980, the NMT Training School was established as part of Nigeria Machine Tools Limited to develop the technical manpower needed to support the country’s growing industrial, manufacturing, engineering and energy sectors. From the beginning, training was closely connected to the realities of industry, giving learners an opportunity to develop technical knowledge alongside practical skills.
Over the years, the Training School grew within NMT’s wider engineering and manufacturing environment, providing access to experienced technical professionals, industrial facilities and hands-on learning.
Today, that legacy continues as NMT Academy.
NMT Academy represents the next chapter in our commitment to developing people with the competence, discipline and practical skills required to contribute meaningfully to industry. Our approach goes beyond the classroom, combining technical instruction with hands-on experience in a real engineering and manufacturing environment.
From mechanical maintenance and precision machining to welding, fabrication, electrical and instrumentation, industrial operations and safety, our programmes are designed around the skills industry needs.
But our story is not only about what happens within our facilities. It is about the people who pass through them, the skills they develop and the impact they go on to make.
As we look ahead, NMT Academy is building on its heritage to develop industry-ready technical professionals who can contribute to industrial excellence across Africa and beyond.
