Osogbo, Osun State | 7 October 2026
Nigeria Machine Tools Academy (NMTA) has hosted the kick-off ceremony for the Human Capital Development (HCD) Training Programme for the EPU Phase 2 Development Project and UZU Project, in partnership with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Renaissance and SEFLAM.
Held at NMT’s facility in Osogbo, Osun State, the ceremony marked the beginning of a structured technical training programme designed to equip 60 trainees with practical knowledge and industry-relevant competencies to support the needs of Nigeria’s industrial and energy sectors.
The programme is structured around six months of classroom training followed by six months of on-the-job training (OJT), combining foundational technical knowledge with practical workplace experience. Delivered at one location, NMT’s industrial facility in Osogbo, the programme provides a setting where technical learning can be connected to real engineering and manufacturing processes.
Through this approach, the trainees will have the opportunity to develop technical skills, workplace discipline, safety awareness and problem-solving abilities essential for industrial operations. The combination of classroom instruction and on-the-job training is intended to help bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
The kick-off ceremony brought together representatives of NMT, NCDMB, Renaissance and SEFLAM, alongside the trainees and other stakeholders. The programme featured welcome remarks, a training overview, partner addresses, discussions on the programme’s commitments and a question-and-answer session.
A key highlight of the initiative is NMT’s commitment to providing employment opportunities to three trainees following the successful completion of their training and fulfilment of the applicable requirements. This creates a potential pathway from technical training to employment, reinforcing the importance of connecting skills development with opportunities for professional growth.
For Nigeria Machine Tools, the programme reflects its continued commitment to strengthening technical capacity, supporting local content development and contributing to the development of a skilled workforce for Nigeria’s industrial and energy sectors.
Through its partnership with NCDMB, Renaissance and SEFLAM, NMT is supporting an approach to human capital development that places practical learning, industry exposure and workforce readiness at the centre.
As the 60 trainees begin their 12-month journey, the programme represents a shared investment in developing the technical talent needed to support industrial growth and build stronger local capabilities.
