Nigeria Machine Tools Limited (NMT), Nigeria’s foremost integrated engineering and machine-tools manufacturer, has announced the transformation of its long-established Training School into NMT Academy, expanding its commitment to technical education, workforce development and African industrialisation.
Building on NMT’s more than 45 years of manufacturing and engineering experience, the Academy will develop skilled, safety-conscious and industry-ready professionals for manufacturing, oil and gas, construction, defence, infrastructure and other critical sectors.
Unlike conventional classroom-based institutions, NMT Academy is located within NMT’s 110 hectares integrated manufacturing complex in Osogbo. Participants gain supervised practical experience in a live industrial environment, working alongside experienced engineers, instructors and technicians while learning production processes, equipment handling, quality standards, workplace safety and industrial discipline.
The Academy’s training infrastructure includes machining, welding and fabrication workshops; pattern shops; industrial-maintenance facilities; modern classrooms; a dedicated training auditorium; technical training aids; and digital and audio-visual learning resources.
NMT Academy also provides a complete residential learning environment capable of accommodating up to 100 trainees at a time. The campus includes furnished accommodation, catering and dining facilities, an on-site medical clinic, sports and recreational facilities, security systems, reliable utilities and dedicated trainee-welfare support.
The Academy offers a robust, industry-driven curriculum covering machining, welding, fabrication, pattern making, mechanical fitting, industrial maintenance, manufacturing operations, quality control, health and safety, and workplace readiness. Programmes are available as short courses, apprenticeships, graduate-development programmes, technical upskilling and customised corporate training.
NMT Academy is certified by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN). It also benefits from NMT’s ISO-certified quality-management systems and established industrial processes. Training is delivered by experienced facilitators with practical expertise across engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, quality and industrial operations.
